Recovery and Physical Therapy
After a sports injury or corrective surgery, physical therapists and kinesiologists at the Institute develop individualized recovery programs to address a host of orthopedic problems including those affecting the shoulder, back, neck, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle or foot.
Physical therapy promotes healing, restores range of motion, increases endurance, and helps athletes get back into the game. It combines exercise, strength training, gait training, manual therapy techniques, and education to promote optimum health and maximize function.
The Institute offers a complete range of rehab services, with a strong emphasis on orthopedics, including:

Highly experienced therapists on staff
The physical therapy staff at the Institute specialize in musculoskeletal conditions, knee and shoulder sports injury rehab, kinesiology and the science of human movement. The director of the Rehabilitation and Research at the Institute is an orthopedics-certified specialist who is also the lead physical therapist for both the Houston Rockets and the Houston Comets. Additional therapists at the Institute are certified by the McKenzie Institute in spine rehabilitation, and two others are nationally certified strength and conditioning coaches.
