Human Performance Team

Performing at the highest level without injury is the goal of every athlete. Sometimes this requires assistance from the human performance experts at the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Sports Medicine Institute with locations in the Texas Medical Center, Memorial City, The Woodlands and Shepherd Square.

This highly trained team includes sports biomechanists, strength and conditioning specialists, exercise physiologists and sports dietitians. Using performance testing and counseling, they work with athletes of all ability levels to analyze and improve their biomechanics, training regimens and nutrition, giving them an edge in competition.

Our human performance team has the knowledge and expertise to work with athletes of all ages and competition levels. Additionally, all team members have played sports and they possess a love and appreciation for human movement and its impact on our lives. This helps the team relate to every athlete and tailor our programs to fit their individual needs.

Kimberly Gandler, MS

Coordinator, Human Performance

Kimberly holds a masters degree in bioengineering and specializes in human movement mechanics and injury prevention. Her experience includes management of the SHRI-CORE Motion Analysis Lab in Sun City West, Arizona, and six years in a clinical setting with expertise in motion capture. She is an Adjunct Professor of Biomechanics at University of Houston Clear Lake who has presented at national meetings on biomechanics.

Hailing from Nottingham, England, Spencer holds a master’s in sports biomechanics. His experience includes performance coaching and sports science for professional English soccer clubs, performance analysis for sports companies and sports performance research at Leeds Metropolitan University Carnegie Research Institute. He has worked with NFL Combine prospects and a broad range of professional athletes in strength, conditioning and performance testing.

Gremillion holds a master's in Exercise Physiology from Texas Tech University and is certified by the CSCCA, the gold standard of certification in the strength and conditioning industry. As a coach, Gremillion has developed athletes of all levels, from novice to professional, in both endurance and field sports. He is also a competitive runner, triathlete and rugby player.

Paula Mrowczynski-Hernandez, MEd, RD, LD

Sports Dietitian

Paula Mrowczynski-Hernandez holds a Bachelor of Science in health and sports studies with a major in dietetics from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and a Master of Education in counseling from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. Paula has been a dietitian for 11 years with experience helping families and individuals making healthy lifestyle changes. Paula enjoys participating in triathlons and marathons. She has completed one full IRONMAN triathlon, six IRONMAN 70.3 triathlons and eight marathons.

Sports Dietitian

Singer holds a bachelor’s in nutrition from Texas Christian University and is currently pursuing a master’s in nutrition. During his time as a dietitian, Brett has worked with a variety of individuals in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. He enjoys strength training and playing soccer.

Human Performance Specialist

Ruggiero holds a master’s in exercise physiology from Kent State University and is certified through ACSM and NSCA. Her professional experiences include working with a variety of collegiate athletes to assess and improve their performance through performance testing and strength and conditioning. She is a former collegiate basketball player who now competes in triathlons.

Rebecca holds master’s in engineering from The University of Texas at Austin with a specialization in dynamic systems and control. A lifelong runner turned competitive triathlete, Rebecca combines her extensive knowledge of system dynamics with an intense passion for sport to build personalized, data-driven human performance plans for our clients. Rebecca is active in the Houston cycling and triathlon communities and works with athletes to achieve training and racing goals effectively, efficiently and safely.
